Open Research Europe (ORE) publishes articles rapidly. After you submit, your article goes through a series of prepublication checks covering originality, readability, author eligibility, and compliance with ORE’s policies and ethical guidelines. Once it passes, it is published. Peer review follows: invited experts review the article openly after publication, and their reports are published alongside it. An article stays published regardless of the reviewers’ recommendations.
See the Article Guidelines for information about submitting different article types.
Before you submit
During submission, you will be asked to confirm that your article meets each of the following requirements:
-
Originality. The work has not been published previously and is not under consideration at another journal. Articles posted on a preprint server (e.g. arXiv, SSRN, bioRxiv, medRxiv) can be submitted, preprints must be disclosed.
-
Eligibility. At least one author meets ORE’s eligibility criteria with a verifiable institutional email, department website, or letter of reference.
-
Article type and scope. The article fits one of ORE’s article types and falls within its scientific scope.
-
Language. The article is clearly written in English (see the language guidance).
-
Image integrity. Images comply with ORE’s image integrity policy: they are unaltered, with raw files deposited.
-
Ethics. The study complies with ORE’s ethical policies and guidelines. Approvals and consents are obtained and reported, trials are registered, and dual-use and hazard risks are stated.
-
Reproducibility. Where applicable, methods and data are described and made available to allow others to replicate the study, following appropriate reporting guidelines and community standards. See the open data, software and code guidelines.
-
Author responsibilities. All authors have read and understood ORE’s publication policies and publishing model, and have approved the content.
-
Declarations. The article includes full author and affiliation details, funding statement (inlcuding “none”) and a conflict of interest statement.
For more detail on reporting and ethical requirements, consult the editorial policies.
If your article does not pass the checks
It will either be returned to you to address the issues, or declined if the issues cannot be resolved.
New to Open Journals System?
If it’s your first time using the OJS software, we invite you to read their guide for authors: it walks you through the process of registering with a journal, making a submission, responding to peer review, uploading revisions, and proofreading the publication-ready version of a manuscript in OJS.
