Microbiology

About Browse

Microbiology is the study of microbes, microscopic organisms that are too small to be visible by the naked eye such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, algae, archaea, and prions.

This collection curates research studying the genetics, cellular and molecular biology, physiology, evolution, and ecology, of microbes, as well as their roles on the human body, either in non- harmful situations such as being part of our gut microbiota, and in pathological ones.

Subjects include:

  • Bacteriology
  • Virology
  • Mycology (fungi, such as yeasts and moulds)
  • Protozoology
  • Phycology (algae)
  • Parasitology
  • Immunology (transmission, host-pathogen interactions, vaccination, antibiotics)
