Nanomaterials

About Browse

A nanomaterial can be defined as a structure in which at least one dimension is between 1-100 nanometer (nm) in size, with 1nm being a billionth of a meter. These materials can take many different forms including particles, tubes and fibers. Due to their size, they may possess different physico-chemical properties when compared to larger materials of the same bulk composition. These materials are showing promise in varying applications, such as in the healthcare industry in drug delivery systems and diagnostic therapies and also in commercial activities such as electronics, cosmetics and textiles.

Nanomaterials fall under nanotechnology, a relatively new field of study and so it is important to create platforms, such as this collection, to disseminate knowledge and contribute to the growing field. This collection focuses on research articles that are related but not limited to the following topics:

  • Characterization studies of nanomaterials
  • Nanocrystalline materials
  • Structure-property relationship studies of nanomaterials
  • Synthesis of nanoscale materials & structures
  • Zero-two dimensional nanomaterials, ranging between nanoparticles to nanolayers
