Sociology

About Browse

Sociology is the study of human societies, human behaviour, and social processes. It considers social groups, organizations, social structures, and how people behave within and interact with these social contexts.

Research in sociology includes developing theoretical understandings of social processes, as well as empirically focused research relating to issues such as social inequality, welfare policies, and social change. Investigations into causes and consequences of social inequality and attention to issues of race, class and gender are at the heart of the discipline.

Sociological research can range from the micro-level, looking at everyday life, individuals and families, to looking at sub-cultures and social groups, to macro-level analysis of systems, larger social structures, and social trends.
