Disease Mechanisms
When the state of an organism deviates harmfully from its normal structure and function, it is termed diseased. In humans, the most common diseases are known as Diabetes, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, and stroke amongst many others, enlarging mortality and co-morbidity rates across the world. Whilst most diseases are not currently curable, further determining their mechanisms to reduce diagnosis time, for example, would intuitively better the lives of those living with them.
The scope of the collection includes but is not limited to the broad area of disease mechanisms to improve the knowledge of medical professionals and patients:
- Mechanisms of common and uncommon diseases
- Biomarkers
- Stem cells
- Clinical trials
- Patient-specific case studies/reports
- Current and future medical/health technologies identifying disease mechanisms
Researchers focused on disease management and treatment are encouraged to submit their articles to the dedicated collection on this theme (here).
